Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about buying and selling tradelines on DivvyCredit.

01

General Tradeline Info

A tradeline is any credit account that appears on your credit report — credit cards, loans, mortgages. On DivvyCredit, we deal specifically with credit card tradelines. When you're added as an authorized user to someone's credit card, that account's full history (age, credit limit, payment record) appears on your credit report.

Yes. Authorized user tradelines are recognized by all major credit scoring models including FICO and VantageScore. The Equal Credit Opportunity Act explicitly protects the right to have spousal accounts considered in credit decisions, which is the legal foundation for authorized user reporting. That said, results vary based on your individual credit profile.

In rare cases, yes. If a seller's card has high utilization or the account is closed after you're added, it could temporarily affect your score. This is why we screen every seller card for low utilization (under 15%) and good standing before listing it.

A seasoned tradeline is a credit card account that has been open for several years — typically 2+ years. Older cards carry more weight because they demonstrate a long history of on-time payments. Cards on DivvyCredit range from 2 to 20+ years old, and older cards are priced higher accordingly.

Yes. Adding authorized users is explicitly permitted by federal law and by every major card issuer. It's the same practice parents use when adding their children to their credit cards. DivvyCredit facilitates this between willing parties. We do not accept CPNs, EINs, or any synthetic identity numbers — only real Social Security numbers.

Our Inventory

The purchase deadline is the last day to buy a tradeline and be guaranteed a spot in the upcoming posting window. If you buy before the deadline, we guarantee your tradeline posts during the listed window. Purchases after the deadline roll to the next reporting cycle.

All cards on DivvyCredit are required to maintain utilization under 15% while an authorized user order is active. High utilization on a tradeline can hurt rather than help your score, so we enforce this as a seller requirement.

Yes. Some banks report authorized users more reliably than others. Chase, Discover, and Barclays tend to have the most consistent reporting. Each card on DivvyCredit shows its historical post rate so you can see track record before buying.

Yes. Buying 2-3 tradelines together is often more effective than buying one. We offer package discounts automatically applied at checkout. Most buyers targeting a specific credit goal (mortgage qualification, auto loan) purchase 2 tradelines with different age and limit combinations.

03

Selecting the Right Tradeline

It depends on your credit profile. If you have a thin file (few accounts), card age matters more — it adds history. If you already have established accounts but high utilization, a high-limit card helps more by improving your overall utilization ratio. When in doubt, buy one of each.

Most buyers purchase 1-3 tradelines. One tradeline can make a meaningful difference for thin-file borrowers. Two or three tradelines with different ages and limits typically produce stronger results. We do not recommend buying more than 3 at once — diminishing returns kick in beyond that.

No. Credit freezes block all new reporting to the bureaus, including authorized user additions. You must lift your freeze at all three bureaus (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion) before purchasing. Fraud alerts can also interfere. Failure to remove these voids our posting guarantee.

04

Posting & Reporting

Each card has a listed posting window — typically a 7-day range within the next 30 days. The card's issuer reports on their statement date. Once you purchase before the deadline, we guarantee posting within that window.

We guarantee reporting to at least 2 of the 3 major bureaus (Equifax, Experian, TransUnion). Most cards report to all three. If a card fails to report to at least 2 bureaus, you qualify for a full refund or exchange.

You remain as an authorized user for two billing cycles (approximately 60 days), giving you two consecutive postings. After that you are removed. However, the account history does not immediately disappear — it typically remains on your report for up to 10 years as a closed/removed account, continuing to contribute positively to your history.

The account will show as removed after 2 billing cycles, but the history stays. Your report will reflect that you were an authorized user on that account during that period. Most scoring models continue to count this history even after removal.

05

Placing an Order & Paying

Browse the inventory, select a tradeline, click Add to Cart. At checkout you'll enter your full legal name, date of birth, SSN, and current address. Pay via credit or debit card through our secure Stripe checkout. You'll receive an order confirmation by email.

Yes. We accept all major credit and debit cards through Stripe. Unlike some competitors, we do not require wire transfers or e-checks for standard orders.

Full legal name, date of birth, Social Security number, and current mailing address. This is the minimum information banks require to add an authorized user. Your information is encrypted and shared only with the card holder for the purpose of completing your order.

06

Credit Scores & Credit Repair

There is no reliable average — results vary significantly based on your starting profile, existing negative items, and which tradelines you purchase. Thin-file borrowers with clean reports see the most dramatic improvements. Borrowers with recent derogatory marks see less impact. We do not make score improvement claims.

No. DivvyCredit is not a credit repair company. We do not dispute items on your credit report, contact creditors on your behalf, or make promises about score improvements. If you have derogatory items, you may want to address those separately before or alongside purchasing tradelines.

Piggybacking is the informal term for becoming an authorized user on someone else's account to benefit from their credit history. It's been a common practice for decades — parents do it for children all the time. DivvyCredit simply makes this available between strangers through a structured, transparent marketplace.

Selling Tradelines

Earnings depend on your card's age and credit limit. Cards with 10+ year history and $20K+ limits typically earn $200-$350 per slot. Newer or lower-limit cards earn $50-$150 per slot. Each card can fill 1-2 slots per month. Use our earnings calculator on the Sell page for a personalized estimate.

Personal credit cards only. Must have: no late payment history ever, utilization under 15%, open for at least 12 months, minimum $2,500 credit limit. Major issuers accepted: Chase, Discover, Barclays, Capital One, Bank of America, and others. Business cards are not accepted.

Payouts are released 30 days after a successful order closes — after the posting window ends and no disputes are filed. Payment is via ACH direct deposit to your bank account. The 30-day hold protects buyers and maintains marketplace integrity.

Early removal before the posting window closes forfeits your payout for that order and triggers a full refund to the buyer. This is clearly stated in the seller agreement you sign at onboarding. We track AU additions and removals, and sellers with repeated early removals are suspended from the platform.

08

Legal & Trust

Absolutely not. CPNs (Credit Privacy Numbers) are illegal. We only accept real Social Security numbers. Any order submitted with a CPN, EIN, or fake SSN is immediately cancelled, the buyer is permanently banned, and we reserve the right to report fraudulent activity to law enforcement.

Yes. All personal data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Your SSN and identity information is shared only with the card holder for the sole purpose of completing your authorized user addition. We do not sell data to third parties. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Full refund if your tradeline fails to post to at least 2 bureaus within the guaranteed posting window. To claim: log into your account, go to your order, click "File Non-Posting Claim," and upload a screenshot of your Credit Karma or bureau report showing the tradeline is absent. We review within 2 business days and process refunds within 10 business days.

We do not currently serve buyers in Georgia due to state-specific regulations. All other US states are supported.
